#1 Setting up your Workspace

This is a video series of recording’s of Deb Chaney’s Energizing and Experimental Abstract Painting with Mixed Media and Acrylics Workshop. The workshop was originally taught in 6 weeks at Brocke House Community Center in Vancouver, BC Canada. By watching these videos you will learn the fundamentals of abstract painting with acrylics and mixed media – basic design composition and colour. Building on this foundation, each class will progressively introduce new techniques and skills. Techniques include glazing, layering, removal, staining, lifting of paints as well as layering in collage elements. How to achieve line, depth,texture & interest in their paintings will be covered. We will be using liquid and heavy body acrylics, as well as acrylic mediums & gels, and paper collage elements. Enjoy!

About Deb Chaney, SCA
Deb Chaney is a contemporary abstract artist based in Vancouver, BC. An elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists, she is predominantly self-taught with a B.Sc. in Earth and Ocean Sciences from the University of Victoria. For the past decade, she has created a new body of work each year and exhibited and sold her painting across Canada and in the U.S.. In 2009 Rainmaker Inc. featured her work in a film. In 2012, Deb was featured in the 3rd edition of BC Artists (Leighton Press) and interviewed on Novus and Telus TV, CBC Radio, and Vancouver Co-op Radio. She is the author of The Little Inspiration Book (Trafford, 2002), contributing author of Sand in my Bra, Funny women write from the road (Traveler’s Tales 2004), and creator of a card set entitled The 68 Secrets of an Illuminated Artist: How to stay in your creative flow despite any obstacle.
