Learn Node JS with MySQL APIs Development Beginners Tutorial | Create & Load Custom/User Modules in Node JS

Node.js Module
=================

Module in Node.js is a simple or complex functionality organized in single or multiple
JavaScript files which can be reused throughout the Node.js application.

Each module in Node.js has its own context, so it cannot interfere with other modules or
pollute global scope. Also, each module can be placed in a separate .js file under a
separate folder.

Node.js Module Types
==========================

Node.js includes three types of modules:

a) Core Modules i.e like http, os, fs etc
b) Local Modules i.e user custom modules
c) Third Party Modules i.e cors, mysql etc

Export Module in Node.js
===============================

The module.exports or exports is a special object which is included in every JS file in
the Node.js application by default.

Module is a variable that represents current module and exports is an object that will be
exposed as a module. So, whatever we assign to module.exports or exports, will be exposed
as a module.

What is Node.js
========================
Node.js can be defined as a dynamic, cross-platform and open-source JavaScript framework
or runtime environment that is built on the Google Chrome JavaScript V8 engine. Node.js,
developed by Ryan Dahl in 2009, was initially implemented as a client-side scripting
language. Nowadays, it is used to execute JavaScript code and scripts that run server-side
to create dynamic web pages.

Node.js Features:
=================================
Most web developers implement Node.js due to its amazing and powerful features. Some of
the features of Node.js are:

a) Faster code execution
b) Highly scalable
c) Non-blocking APIs
d) No buffering

With such wonderful features, Node.js is widely used for creating server-side and
networking applications.

The following are the key areas where Node.js is widely used:

a) I/O-bound applications
b) Data streaming applications
c) Data-intensive real-time applications (DIRT)
d) JSON API-based applications
e) Single-page applications
