The Britches Full of Stitches (With ABCs) – Traditional Irish Music Tutorial by James Finnegan

In this video, I’ll be going over “The Britches Full of Stitches”.

“The Britches Full of Stitches” is a traditional Irish polka played in the key of G major. This commonly played session tune is a 2-part polka that allows many opportunities to insert various Irish traditional ornamentation such as triplets, slides and rolls.

I start this polka a at a slow beginner’s pace. It continues in the repeat of the tune up to an intermediate level, finishing the third time with a session speed arrangement.

My name is James Finnegan and I’m from Co. Monaghan, Ireland. I’m a tenor banjo, mandolin and guitar player, traditional Irish music teacher and Commerce and Mandarin student in University College Dublin.
