GIMP Tutorial – Changing a background with Layer Masks, or Color to Alpha – GIMP 2.6 and GIMP 2.8

This GIMP tutorial was requested by a How-to-GIMP member, and I’m using his images to demonstrate the method. I use GIMP 2.8 in this video shows two different methods you can use to replace the background in an image with another image.

I show you…

•How to open both images as layers (00:16)
•How to make both layers the correct size (00:58)
•How to use Layer Masks to replace the background (03:08)
•How to use Color to Alpha to replace the background (07:35)
•How to save the final image as an XCF, or JPEG (11:22)

These methods are equally applicable to GIMP 2.8 and GIMP 2.6
