In this video I show students how to implement a “State Machine” using the State Diagram function in HDL Designer software by Mentor Graphics.
The really great feature of the State diagram tool, is that it shows the student the VHDL code equivalent of the Graphical State machine design, made with the software’s State Diagram function. This is an amazing learning tool, as it gives the student a glimpse at how a state machine functions by providing a vie from two different perspectives. This allows the student to compare the two, to see how they relate.
Hopefully this tutorial will help you out and get you stated using State diagrams. 🙂
